We're back at the ranch after a quick, 4.5-day trip to the Texas Hill Country that included a family reunion and a book signing for the just-released CSI: The Burning Season and San Diego Noir. The trip involved a lot of time in the car, including the trek home across West Texas in heat that reached 112 degrees. Here at home it's a comparatively mild 106 (but it's a dry heat), and there are clouds in the sky that want to rain, they just don't have enough moisture in them yet.
